The grape harvest 2004
The expectations for this years' grape harvest were varied, since both strong temperature variations and heavy rain falls were forecasted. We are proud to say, we were successful in bringing in the whole harvest in excellent quality and healthy, before the fall of rain set in.

The vintage 2004 is very promising: the grapes have had normal and steady growth. Thanks to optimal maturing, we obtained young wines which exhibit great equilibrium and homogeneity, reflected in great colour and well-balanced alcohol and acid content.

After two years of rather modest quantities, we could finally realize a grape harvest this year, which was in line with the philosophy of Castello di Lucignano. Thanks to the vigorous growth of the vines, we had the possibility to reduce yields to only the best grapes (“green harvest”) and realize an average yield of only 5.000 kilos / hectare of healthy grapes (the statutes of Gallo Nero allow up to 7.500 kilos /hectare).

Based on these promising conditions, we look forward to one of the best vintages of the past 10 years.
